Deadlock Handling in Operating Systems A Survey Paper
Deadlocks may occur in variety of systems like vehicular adhoc networks, production systems etc. but the focus of this survey paper remains on the
deadlocks occurring in computer operating systems.This paper surveys the research work performed in the area of deadlock handling. The
deadlock problem can be handled using multiple techniques which are often classified into three categories: (1) prevention, (2) detection and
recovery, and (3) avoidance. Deadlock handling is a comprehensive term which takes into account, all the three aspects of handling with deadlocks.
In this paper we will be discussing the work done in the three categories.
